*The weekend has rolled around again so that means another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge. This weeks challenge is called “Cut up Stamping”, this means that after you stamp an image or a background you cut out a section of the image. Most of the examples that I have seen usually it is a strip that is cut out, but you can try cutting it anyway that works for you. I watched a Jennifer McGuire video months ago so I was kind of working off some tips that she suggested in that video. In a lot of the samples I have seen the images tended to be floral, I wanted to do something different so I opted to do some autumn trees, this is an anniversary card for a couple that I am very close to that has an autumn anniversary (and they don’t go on the internet EVER (besides Netflix)so it is safe to post. (if you are reading this and can guess who this couple is DON’T tell them about this card 😀)

This cheeky monkey really cracks me up, I used him twice on this card as I think it adds a little whimsy making this a cute card for a child. When I started this card it was just going to have the Ice cream Sundae with just a Happy Birthday on the front, then I thought maybe I’ll make a Banana Split, and who loves bananas….. MONKEYS. My weird crafty brain turned a card that might have taken about an hour, into a 3 hour project in which I BROKE my BIGSHOT, I almost cried ðŸ˜. (Don’t worry I found a replaced on my local buy and sell facebook page) anyway this is how I spent my day.

*Happy Weekend, and this week’s Crazy4Challenges challenge is a Sketch Challenge. I have a special friend with a birthday coming up so I made this one with her in mind. When creating cards sometimes I try to come up with little side challenges just for myself, and one of them more often than not is to find (and use) something that I’ve had for years and not used previously. So this week I got digging through some Scrapbook Kits that I’ve had for YEARS and pick one out that suited the theme I was looking for. The benefit of using kits is that all of the items in the kit will coordinate with each other so it makes it a little easier and sometimes quicker.

I made this card a few weeks ago as a request for a friend. She needed a wedding card for her brother and his soon to be wife with a traveling theme. I had to ponder this one for a bit as I wasn’t quite sure what to do and how to make this a personalized card. Then I happened to look across my craft room at a book shelf and there it was, an Atlas that had sat on a shelf, unused for at least 20 years, I’m not even sure how hold it even is, my hubby is guessing 30ish. I thought long and hard before I started ripping pages out as I love books, I have always taken care of my books and part of my brain had a hard time committing to taking this one apart. I texted my friend and told her what I was considering and asked if there was any special places that she had in mind, well she passed on where they were, living, where they got engaged, places they have been and places they were planning on going so I made the decision and this is what I came up with.
