Fall Anniversary October Design Team Challenge card

Happy October, my favourite time of year. It’s also Design team challenge day, and this month’s challenge is to have a pumpkin on our cards. I decided to make an anniversary card with an autumn theme.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would share your own creations.  A video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

I haven’t made an accordion card for a while so I decided to make a Landscape Rectangle Accordion card. I cut out three panels and brushed red ink around edges. I cut out the centers as shown.

I cut out 3 panels from the Fence Add on. I added shading to the bottom and right sides with an alcohol marker. I also added highlights to the left and the top sides with a white gelly roll pen. Then added to the red panels as shown. (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ ) the grass (shown in a later panel) is also cut from the fence add on.

I started to assemble the base then remembered that the first panel will shown from the front and the back so I added red ink to the front of the red panel as shown. I used a mask so I would not get ink on the fence.

I cut out the Happy Anniversary from brown and green. I cut out the orange pumpkins, the apples and acorns from the Autumn Elements. The yellow pumpkin is from the Halloween Elements. The layered labels are from the Greeting Labels. I added shading with alcohol markers and white highlights to all the pieces. I sponged a little bit of brown ink to the cream coloured ovals. The stamped greeting is from the Stage Scenes Clear Stamps and I curved the stamp when putting it on the block to match the curved in the oval. I cut skinny strips of green cardstock and wrapped it around a large needle to make the swirly vines. I added all the elements to the card as shown.

I found that once I assembled the card the base got a little warpy as it was a thinner red cardstock. So I cut three more panels, trimmed out the middle to add to the back side of the card. Because the card was assembled I had to cut the corners of 2 of them to get them around the fence pieces.

All done, now to get it in the mail…….
