Happy 22nd Birthday

So my son just turned 22 and I knew I wouldn’t be able to see him on his birthday so I knew I had to make him something extra special. He has been a Star Wars fan since before he can even remember, but I remember. I remember all the light sabres we had around the house (one of every colour), the voice changing masks and all the Lego space ships, there was so much lego. And the movies, on repeat, first on VHS, then on DVD, and finally on Blu Ray. At first I was a little stumped on what I was going to do for a card until he sent me a photo of his baby daughter wearing a Yoda hat 💖 💚 , and then I knew it had to be Star Wars. This is what I came up with.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

The cardstock used for this card is from Stampin Up, I used Smoky Slate, Basic Grey, Brushed Silver, and Whisper White. The star paper is from my stash. The stamped stamps are from Kindred Stamps. I stamped the images onto whisper white card stock and coloured them with my Chameleon Markers. I’m not giving directions on how to colour, as I really don’t know what I’m doing. I just keep adding more colour until I get the result I like. I am not a colour artist I’ll look online for inspiration and colouring tips and techniques every time I try. I am quite pleased with how they turned out but it was just luck.

A little helpful hint, can you see what makes the right die cut a little better than the left die cut…..

The Card base

I used the Tag book pop up die set from Karen Burniston to make this card.

Time for the mechanism…… I used the Tag book Pop up from Karen Burniston to make the mechanism. I have photos and directions of the process, but I do recommend watching her VIDEO as she gives much better directions on how to assemble this style of card (her video uses the circle tag book by the same principle applies for this version)

Now for the fun part….. decorating. The cutting dies that cut the frames below, come from the same set as the Tag book.

The happy birthday Die set is from my stash. The stars are from the Surprise Ball Pop up die set.

The XOXO is from the Word set 9-Love, and the tag is from the Tag book set.
