I am so excited to show off this card, I think it turned out super cute and I have to thank Karen Ostergard , this months Crazy4Challenges host for coming up with this weeks challenge as I don’t think I would have thought to make this card without it. So you are probably wondering, what is this weeks challenge and it is…..BBRRRR. it’s cold outside in most of the Northern Hemisphere or it’s quite warm in the Southern Hemisphere. Do a winter themed card if you live in the north and a summer card themed card if you live in the south. Well I live in the North so winter card it is, but at first I was a little stumped as Christmas just past and I didn’t want to make a card that looked to Christmasy. Then I saw a Surprise Ball Valentine video from Karen Burniston that gave me the idea to make this fun snowman, and here it is.

The magic is in the motion, to see this card in motion please check out my Facebook page, please feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. My videos can also be found on my Instagram account.

To make this fun mechanism I used the Surprise Ball Pop-up die set and the Flap and Closure die set both from Karen Burniston. Most of the other supplies are from Stampin UP and they are listed below. The patterned paper is from Frances Meyer and it was in my stash.

I missed 2 colours and they are Creamy Caramel, and Barely Blue (I think that’s the name, both are retired Stampin Up colours).
I highly recommend watching Karen,s Tutorial Video on how to make the surprise ball, it is pretty difficult to explain with just photos.

so the photo below of the circles is a little deceiving, when I took the photo those were the sizes I thought I was going to use but they were to small, and I forgot to retake the photo with the proper sizes. The Proper size is the size that I typed over the photo. So the picture is incorrect but the sizes in the blue letters on the photo are correct. The Circle dies I got from Stampin’ Up! But any stacking circle die set will work

The sign tag is a retired SU die, and the stamped greeting is also a Stampin up stamp.

Now for the card base.
I wanted to have a 5 3/4″ square card, but because I was using 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock I couldn’t just fold it in half as it wouldn’t have been even so I opted to have the card front a little short on one side, because I knew the closure flap would cover that space, when the card is closed it is perfectly square.

The navy circles below are the larger circle that came with the Surprise Ball die set.

The snowflake dies and the Happy Birthday dies are are from my Thrift store haul, so sorry I’m not sure where they are from.
