Caffeinated delights- May design team challenge

Hello crafty friends, are you a tea or coffee lover. Me, I’m all about the tea. My hubby isn’t even aloud to use my cups for his coffee lol. The Karen Burniston Design Team challenge this month is “caffeinated” and we were to add any caffeinated items to our cards. I added tea and coffee, chocolate muffins and chocolate chip cookies.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

Like a lot of my cards, I look for a patterned paper that I calls to me and then pull out matchmaking cardstock. I think this patterned paper is long retired Creative Memories. I wanted the patterned paper to be the top panel of the mechanism but it wasn’t thick enough so I used double sided adhesive and added it to a piece of brown cardstock. I cut the striped panel and the brown pieces using the Triple Flip Pop up and assembled (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ )

I wanted to make a 5 1/2” square card top fold card. It was a thinner cardstock and it ripped a bit on the fold. I took a coordinating paper from the same paper pack. I forgot to measure but it is 5 3/8” wide. I made a gusset about 1/8” to cover the ripped fold in the card. It overlaps about an inch over the back and about 1/2 way down the front. I ended up cutting another strip of the same paper to add to the bottom of the front of the card. Sorry not sown yet.

I wanted the striped paper to be the same width as the paisley paper so I trimmed about 1/8” off the right side. I marked on the card where the mechanism will be so I know where to cut the 1/2” circle out. Using foam adhesive I added the Triple Flip panel to the card front.

It was missing something so I cut out a border from the Border Blends-Trims from a cream paper, cut it half and added it above and below the striped panel.

I cut out six panels (it did end up being 7) using the dies from the Triple Flip Pop up set as shown. I added shading to the bottom right and white highlights to the top left. “Hello” was stamped using a stamp from Photo Memories Clear Stamps. The pieces I used to decorated were cut from Coffee Charms, Tea and Coffee borders, Tea and Coffee Pop up, and Baking Borders. I added shading with alcohol markers and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen then added to the panels.

I added the little panels to the flippers and decided to add a seventh panel, I didn’t like it against just the striped panel so I added a brown rectangle.

Now for the inside. I found matching paper from the same paper pack. I cut the 1/2 circle out of the piece that will go on the top and added both of them to the card.

I find it hard not out have something special on the inside as well so I decided to use the Lorna Label with the Happy Birthday Lorna Label add on (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ ) The cream colour I wanted to use wasn’t thick enough for the frame so I used double sided adhesive added it to white cardstock. I added highlights and shading to the letters and the frame. I used some left over pieces to add to a border that I made for under the greeting.

I added 2 more of the borders as shown. I cut matching Lorna Labels for a place to sign. I added shading and highlights.
