So, When it comes to making cards I am usually my own worst enemy, most cards I make are really time-consuming and I am all about the wow factor and all the little details, on average I spend 2-6 hours on most cards, which isn’t a bad thing except I work full time, and am usually fairly busy doing mom things sooo needless to say I don’t get many cards done in a week. I decided I was going to challenge myself to make at least one simple card a week and I am calling it a K.I.S.S. card (Keep it Simple Stupid), now when I say challenge myself it is a challenge as I am kind of the crazy card lady who has to make pop-up, sparkly, multi-layered, shaker cards with glitter and 3 types of adhesive 😳, so I find it difficult when I try to scale it back, but I did, I gave myself 30 minutes to make a card but tonights card only took me 20 minutes. 😊 yay me.

To keep this card under 30 minutes I had to give myself some rules. I only gave myself roughly 10 minutes to pick and cut my cardstock and designer paper. To make this easier for myself I picked the designer paper that was part of a package so I knew the colours in the patterns would match, and it was then easy to pick coordinating cardstock. All the paper and cardstock is from Stampin’ Up, the paper is retired and the cardstock colours are BlackBerry Bliss, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White. Also to keep myself in my time frame I kept it all about the squares. I also limited my self to 2 adhesives, Snail tape runner and double-sided adhesive sheets.
The card base is cut from Melon Mambo cardstock and it measures at 5″ x 5″ when folded. I matted it onto a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Next, I cut a 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and centered it on top of the Melon Mambo cardstock. The patterned paper squares are 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ and I cut two each of the two different patterns and spaced them evenly inside the white square leaving a little bit of space between them. The next layer is a Tempting Turquoise square that is cut with a stitched 3″ x 3″ die, then on top of that is a white stitched 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ square. All the squares were attached to each other using the Snail tape runner. Last but not least the “Thank You” greeting was cut out of Blackberry Bliss and Melon Mambo cardstock that I had lined the back with double-sided adhesive before die-cutting (making them stickers) and then I centered them in the middle of the white square. (The stitched dies and thank you dies were purchased second hand so I am not sure where they originally came from)
LOL it took longer to write this blog than it did to make the card 😂
