Throwback Thursday- Punch art Sponge Bob card

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea………..  So this is a card that I made for my son, back in the day when Sponge Bob pretty much played on a loop at my house. It is not my original idea and back in the day (2010ish)  if you googled “Sponge Bob punch art card” you would find dozens of cards very similar to mine, but this is the version that I made.

All the cardstock is from Stampin’ Up. The colours used to create the outside of this card are Taken with Teal, Basic Black, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Close to Cocoa, Crushed Curry and Regal Rose. The colours used to create the inside of the card are Crushed Curry, Regal Rose, Tempting Turquoise, Only Orange, and Whisper White, I used a brown and purple marker to decorate the shell.

The card base is 5 1/2″ by 4 1/4″ made from Taken with Teal. I cut a piece of 4″ x 4 1/4″ Crushed Curry card stock that I ran through my Big Shot with a polka dot embossing folder. His face is pretty much made of different sizes of circles …..

…… I used Stampin’ dimensionals to make his nose pop up a little bit.

I just used a cutter and hand cut the eyelashes out of Black Cardstock. The teeth are 3/4″ squares, that I trimmed a little off the sides to make more rectangle. The tongue is a heart punch that I trimmed to fit inside his mouth.

The shirt is a 4″ x 1/2″ piece of white cardstock with a 3/4″ square that I cut in half to make the collar, I sponged a little bit of black ink around the collar so it would show up against the shirt. I added a piece of Red Ribbon tied like a tie to represent his tie.

His pants are a strip of 4″ x 1 1/8″ Close to Cocoa cardstock. I cut slits into so I could add a piece of black ribbon to resemble a belt.

To create the inside I cut a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock  to 4 2/8″ x 3 2/8″ (back then I just trimmed and didn’t really pay attention to size.) Gary’s body and shell were hand drawn onto Tempting Turquoise and Pretty and pink Cardstock, and hand cut. I decorated his shell with a purple and brown marker and I added a little bit of yellow ink along his bell (hard to see in the photo) His eyes were made by punching white circles with a 1/2″ punch and Orange circles with a 1/4″ punch. I hand-printed the greeting with a purple marker. (Sorry after all these years I don’t remember the exact marker colours, but I do know they are the Stampin’ Up markers.)
