This year Hubby didn’t want anything special for Fathers Day, he didn’t want us making it a big deal, so instead of a Fathers Day card, I made a “Because I Love You” card. I thought it would be fun to personalize it by making a resemblance to our morning routine (when we are both at home that same time) My teacup, his coffee cup and both our phones. I think it turned out pretty cute.

The pop-up mechanisms were created using Karen BurnistonsĀ Coffee Cup Pop-upĀ die set, and I followed herĀ videoĀ to create them even though I altered both cups.
I started off with an 8″ x 5 3/4″ card base cut from Night of NavyĀ cardstock. I used some blue double-sided paper from my stash (I believe it is from Costco) and cut 3 pieces to 7 3/4″ x 5 1/4″, I adhered 1 to the front and 2 to the inside also to the front I cut a rectangle from the backside of the same paper, matted it with Night of Navy and trimmed it to fit the front on an angle.

I stamped “Just for you” (Stampin Up retired stamp) stamped it then ran it through my Scan N Cut so I could cut it out of Night of Navy cardstock.

and I adhered it to the card front.

Now for the inside. I had some wood grain paper from Stampin UP, and I cut 2 pieces to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and adhered them to the inside middle leaving space at the crease.
The coffee cups are altered from their original versions, the cup is supposed to look like a take-out coffee cup, I altered one to look like a mug and one to look like an extra tall mug that is shaped like a take-out cup.
I cut out one of the cups out ofĀ Whisper WhiteĀ cardstock, and 2 out ofĀ Soft SuedeĀ cardstock.

I trimmed the top off of the white cup

I used circle dies to make a handle for the mug.

to make the brown mug, I inked it up to give it a textured look.

I trimmed the tops off the cups that are meant to go on the bottom with the tabs to attach to the base and I trimmed the bottoms off the cups that go on the top.

I attached the bottoms to the tops and covered the seam with the cup sleeve.

I attached the cups to the base as per theĀ videoĀ directions making sure I have space to attach two cups, I used the same wood grain paper to attach the cups to the card.

I stamped “….Because” on a piece of scrap blue paper (from the front) and cut it into a banner and cut the “IĀ š U” from my Scan N cut, and adhered them to the card.

I made the 2 cell phones by using a stitch rounded rectangle die set and I cut all the different layers.

I assembled and decorated.

and attached them to the card
