Fine Ladies, and Wine, C4C485

Today’s Crazy 4 Challenges challenge is to create a card with a wine theme, apparently according to the days of the year calendar May 25th is wine day 🍷 , who knew 🤷‍♀️ So the planning began, I pulled out my Merry Merlot cardstock, my “Wine Tasters” stamp and my “Wine Charms” die set and this is what I came up with.

I started this card off by Stamping the “Wine Tasters” stamp from Art Impressions https://www.artimpressions.com/shop/wine-tasters-u4387/ onto watercolour cardstock. Watercolour cardstock can be tricky to stamp on so I used my stamping tool to stamp the image several times until all the lines were crisp. I used black Staz on ink. I used my Crayola watercolour crayons to colour in the image.

To create the card base I had to get a little creative, I had just received my “Tag Book Pop up” die set and I was anxious to use it https://karenburniston.com/tag-book-pop-up/ The only problem is I had already coloured the image for the front and it was much too big to fit on the cover of the tag book so I cut out 2 pieces of 5″x7″ cardstock, rounded the corners, and attached them with 2 pieces of cardstock that were cut with the piece from the set that cuts the connector piece and I attached the 2 panels together. It’s important that the internal mechanism lines up properly with the card base and since I was using a bigger card base than intended and I wanted to make sure that it fit properly so I cut out the large tag that was intended to be the cover and used it as a guide to line up where the mechanism would attach to the card base.

To decorate the card I used a few different patterned papers that I had in my Costco stash, and I trimmed the 2 that I used on the outside as double offset mats for the water coloured ladies, I also used these papers to decorate the mechanism on the inside. I used a different patterned paper to use as borders on the inside, I also used my Party Border blends to cut the edges of the borders https://karenburniston.com/border-blends-party/

I used the Wine charms https://karenburniston.com/wine-charms/ and a few of Karens retired dies (cheese, plate, and apples) to finish decorating the mechanism, I used the wine label to make the crackers. I added a little bit of Wink of Stella to shine up the bottles and the wine glasses.

The Happy Birthday greeting on the front was cut with a die from my stash, I cut it three times and layered them on top of each other. The word bubble was cut using my Scan N Cut. The quote I found online and typed and printed then cut out with a retired Stampin Up Die, sponged with a darker grey. The watercolour, the word bubble, and the first part of the greeting I added to the front of the card using Stampin Dimensionals.
