Champagne Birthday

When I saw this paper I knew if I teamed it up with this die-set it would make a fun masculine birthday card, and I think I was right. I needed a birthday card for my son who was turning 24 on the 24th that’s what makes it a champagne 🥂 birthday (in case you were wondering what a champagne birthday is 🥂 🎂)

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

For anyone who typically follows me you may notice that I will be making a few changes. I am trying to stream line my blogging a bit as I am finding it quite time-consuming. I have decided that since the majority of my cards, I use die sets from Karen Burnkston. Karen makes amazing videos, so if she has a video that explains the assembly of her mechanism or other dies I will link it. I will still give dimensions and helpful hints, and will definitely still explain any changes I make or other important info. The links I share are to her product page for that item, scroll down the page and she has video directions. Because of these changes I will add the links as I work my way through the post instead of at the end. So there in no mix up on what dies I used for each steps.

….and you act like one 2

I am soooo exciting to share this card, I had so much fun making it. It all started with this photo, and the monkey. The monkey had to be blue and yellow and it was for my beautiful grand daughters 2nd birthday, and the rest of it just fell into place as I was making it. It’s funny how that happens some times. I just found the perfect patterned paper and I just happened to have perfectly matching cardstock (from 2 different companies). I bought the little mirrors a while ago and finally had a reason to use them, and posing Jinx the Monkey in all the funny poses actually made me laugh.

As you read the words on each page think of the “Happy Birthday” song. I don’t know if it’s just me but I remember this swap in lyrics from when I was a child

This is why the monkey had to be blue and yellow, it belong to my son when he was three , and now it’s a favourite stuffed friend for this little cutie.

Birthday Pivot Twist slimline card-C4C576

Hello, hello, I felt like trying something I haven’t done yet when making this weeks Crazy4Challenges challenge card. This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge, which means I follow the sketch for the front, but I can do whatever I want on the inside. I decided to do a fun pop up mechanism, using multiple die sets.

Here is the sketch

And this is what I came up with

I say this with every interactive card but this one definitely has all the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

Pickle Party -C4C561

The thing I love most about being part of the Crazy4Challenges design team is I am challenged to make cards that I might not have ever made. This card is a prime example. If someone would have said that I would make a Pickle themed card AND draw cut and colour my own pickles I would have said that it was probably not likely BUT guess what, not only did I do that I made it into a green monochromatic interactive card 🥒🤯. Apparently today (Nov 14) is PICKLE DAY so the challenge was to make a card inspired by pickles, either by including a pickle, or food that goes with pickles, use the colour green, or incorporate a pickled theme sentiment. I hit most of the marks with this one.

World Travelling Wedding Wishes

I made this card a few weeks ago as a request for a friend. She needed a wedding card for her brother and his soon to be wife with a traveling theme. I had to ponder this one for a bit as I wasn’t quite sure what to do and how to make this a personalized card. Then I happened to look across my craft room at a book shelf and there it was, an Atlas that had sat on a shelf, unused for at least 20 years, I’m not even sure how hold it even is, my hubby is guessing 30ish. I thought long and hard before I started ripping pages out as I love books, I have always taken care of my books and part of my brain had a hard time committing to taking this one apart. I texted my friend and told her what I was considering and asked if there was any special places that she had in mind, well she passed on where they were, living, where they got engaged, places they have been and places they were planning on going so I made the decision and this is what I came up with.
