The thing I love most about being part of the Crazy4Challenges design team is I am challenged to make cards that I might not have ever made. This card is a prime example. If someone would have said that I would make a Pickle themed card AND draw cut and colour my own pickles I would have said that it was probably not likely BUT guess what, not only did I do that I made it into a green monochromatic interactive card 🥒🤯. Apparently today (Nov 14) is PICKLE DAY so the challenge was to make a card inspired by pickles, either by including a pickle, or food that goes with pickles, use the colour green, or incorporate a pickled theme sentiment. I hit most of the marks with this one.

I made this card a few weeks ago as a request for a friend. She needed a wedding card for her brother and his soon to be wife with a traveling theme. I had to ponder this one for a bit as I wasn’t quite sure what to do and how to make this a personalized card. Then I happened to look across my craft room at a book shelf and there it was, an Atlas that had sat on a shelf, unused for at least 20 years, I’m not even sure how hold it even is, my hubby is guessing 30ish. I thought long and hard before I started ripping pages out as I love books, I have always taken care of my books and part of my brain had a hard time committing to taking this one apart. I texted my friend and told her what I was considering and asked if there was any special places that she had in mind, well she passed on where they were, living, where they got engaged, places they have been and places they were planning on going so I made the decision and this is what I came up with.
Another weekend another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge, and this weeks challenge was to make a masculine card. It is sometimes easier said than done, it is so much easier making fancy frilly cards in nice bright colours and sometimes it’s hard to reel in the glitter and ribbons but I think I did it. I made a Birthday card in shades of grey and I used clocks and gears on the fun mechanism on this inside and carried them to the front as well. I had a little design flaw that I had to overcome, but I think the finished card is better than it would have been if my original plan would have worked.
With Mothers day just around the corner, I thought I would post the card that I sent my Mother last year for Mothers Day. I thought the colour combo worked well and the Twist panel feature gave it a fun TWIST 😀
What do you get when you cross a Christmas card with a Valentines Day Card??? a little something like this. This was a card that the boyfriend of a friend of mine commisioned me to make. He was very clear with what he wanted, he even picked the colours. His exact words were I want a WOW card that will show my Sweetheart how much I love her. AWWWW challenge accepted and this is what I came up with.
This card is my most favourite card of the year, or possibly ever. This card is for my sister and TODAY is her birthday. This card started off in my head as a fairly simple idea using this “Off to see the Wizard” stamp set ( the witch theme is an inside joke). Then I thought the rest of the characters should pop out the middle, then I thought wouldn’t it be fun to have the Witch of the West be able to pop in and out of the scene, then I thought the Good Witch should be in her bubble, then I thought I should add more glitter…….and more glitter……. and maybe some more glitter……………..and maybe some poppies……….and hey should the poppies have glitter?…….. my mind is often a very chaotic place when I’m card making. Lol
The glitter is hard to see but it’s there, and there is lots of it……..all of the yellow brick road, the ruby slippers, Tin Man, the bubble, the Good Witches dress, wand and crown, the Lions mane, the Scarecrows hair (not sure why I just thought it needed a little something 😆), and the Emerald City.
Inspiration comes to me in many ways, most times the recipient of the intended card plays a big part. Maybe they have a pet, maybe their favourite colour is blue, maybe they love Harry Potter. Today’s card all started with a piece of paper, my friend who will be the recipient of this card is one of the happiest people I know, she can make me smile or laugh with just a phone call and more often then not she brightens my day. So I found a pretty bright piece of designer paper and went from there.
