I have been anxiously waiting to make this post. I had this idea for making a big sandcastle out of the “Woven Basket” die set and the “Castle Pop up” for a while now and I had to wait for this week’s Crazy4Challenges challenge to post it because you guest it, this weeks challenge is to make a card incorporating a sand castle, apparently its “Sandcastle Day” so get out there and hit the beach or craft room and make a sandcastle everybody.
If your wondering what I mean by “lake beach”, I grew up in a town on the North shore of Lake Huron, and although all the “Ocean beach” cards with their crabs and palm trees are quite lovely , I’m more likely to see frogs and cattails near the beaches I’m used to, so this card is dedicated to my home town of Blind River. Miss you like crazy especially when it’s this hot out.

To make this card I used Karen Burnistons Woven Basket Pop-up her Castle Pop-Up The basket was created using her Double Woven Basket technique. I really recommend watching the video and it will definitely help in the assembly process.
All the card stock used is from Stampin Up and the colours are listed throughout the instructions. The paper is from my stash.
First step is cutting out all the pieces.

The first row is the castle in its original shape, just the ends were trimmed a bit. Some of the changes I made on the other row are, used the back side of the cut out so the image is reversed, covered the drawbridge, used different pieces to make taller towers, and added towers where they were not originally.

I the first row was attached to the inside front of the basket, the second row was attached to the first support slat, the third row was attached to the Second support slat and the fourth row was attached to the inside of the back of the basket.

I used Wink of Stella on the sunglasses and the bow.
