Golden Accordion Christmas

There is something about Vanilla and Gold together that makes this card feel warm, or is it just me? This was a card I made for a coworker a few Christmas’s ago to give to his mother for Christmas. This was was a feel-good moment for me as I knew money was really tight for him that year so I decided to just give it to him, I really made his day as he was sure his mother would really enjoy the card, and he really wanted to give her something special.

This card uses the Oval accordion die set from Karen Burniston (Karen’s card assembly instructions https://youtu.be/ZVXyu7M2Mqw ) I cut all of the panels from Very Vanilla card stock, I wanted each panel to look a little different from each other so designed them each a little different, I attached the panels together after they were all decorated.

On the first panel I used Karen’s Oval flourish frame to cut gold cardstock to make the frame on the front panel and the first panel on the inside (left side of card when open), with these very detailed dies I like to put double-sided adhesive on the back of the cardstock before I cut them so the frame pieces were like stickers, as opposed to trying to use a liquid glue and applying it to all the little details. I cut an extra panel in gold and cut out the oval to use as a Matt for the center of the panel, then I cut a smaller over from Vanilla cardstock to put the greeting on. I used Versa Mark ink to stamp the greeting and the snowflakes on the Vanilla oval then used Gold embossing powder and heat embossed. The front oval is visible when the card is closed and it turns when the card is open to make it visible when the card is open.

With the second panel, I cut an oval out of gold cardstock and lightly adhered it to the center of the Vanilla oval, using Versa Mark I stamped the snowflakes ❄️ again, this time I made sure the snowflakes overlapped the oval and the frame with the larger snowflakes. I then removed the gold oval from the card and covered the snowflakes with Vanilla embossing powder mixed with a little bit of dazzling diamonds glitter and heat embossed, I used gold embossing powder for the snowflakes on the card panel and heat embossed, I reattached the gold oval making sure the snowflakes lined up.

On the third panel I stamped the Christmas message right on the panel and heat embossed in gold, I diecut the heart (part of this oval accordion die set) and attached to the oval. I cut out four flourishes (from Karen’s Oval landscape accordion die set) from gold cardstock and attached to the panel.

The last thing is that I attached rhinestones to the little heart and to the center of some of the snowflakes, and the Vanilla ribbon and gold string bow.

All the supplies used are from Stampin’ Up, cardstock used is Very Vanilla and Brushed Gold.
