You Make my Heart Sing- Silver Anniversary Card

I was sooooo EXCITED when Karen came out with music notes in her last release, for those who follow along on the Karen Burniston Pop-up Peeps page know the music notes have been a popular request. For the August design team challenge we were given the challenge β€œLet the Music Play”. For design team challenges I try to find a way to mix some of the newer released items with some of the previously released items and for this card I am using the previously released Pop’n Swap with the new Piano Keys Pop up, and the new Music Charms

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

Cut a black card base to the dimensions below, and I cut 3 silver mirror cardstock frames as shown. For the white panels I trimmed a bit more off of the three but forgot to take a second pic, the dimensions written are correct, I wanted to see a bit more of the silver cardstock under the white panel.

Add the panels on the cardbase as shown, I didn’t think there needed to be silver on the back of the card.

So I started creating the Pop’n Swap mechanism and I decided to do the Pop’n Pop alteration (Video can be found here , it is the second card in the video but I recommend watching from the beginning if you’ve never used the Pop’n Swap die set before) the Pop’n Pop means both arms pop out at the same time as apposed to one popping out while the other slides back in. I wanted silver glitter to be the panel but it was to floppy so I used Sizzix double sided adhesive to attach the silver glitter to white card stock. I also cut the arms out of acetate. Create the mechanism as per Karen’s Video.

The Piano Keys Pop up is meant to pop up, but I couldn’t make that work with the mechanism I chose so I cut out the pieces, and trimmed off the pieces from the black that is meant to attach to the white and just glued them on flat. I added shading with a Versa Mark Marker, and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen. This piece is roughly the same size as the glitter rectangle so I trimmed a bit off the bottom and both sides. I wasn’t sure the best way to glue the key board to the glitter so I used both wet and dry adhesives.

I cut the staff from white and the notes, from black, silver glitter and silver mirror cardstock using the Piano Keys Pop up, and the Music Charms. When I closed the card the staff on the top mechanism stuck out of the top of the card, so I marked it with a pencil, I trimmed and added a note to the end.

I stamped the Music Sentiments stamp β€œYou Make my Heart sing” and diecut and layered with the Squares Crosshatch. I made a matching square to sign the card. I added all the notes to the card starting at the bottom left to the top right, and on the mechanism arms.

For the front I layered some squares using the Squares Crosshatch. I added Happy Anniversary , and the 25th is from the Numbers set. To make the piano I used chalkboard paper stuck to cardstock and used the Music Charms dieset to make the piano, I added shading with a Versa Mark Marker, and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen, and added to the card.

I have some black gems (Amazon manicure gems) and added them randomly around the card.

The β€œlove you” is from the Pop’n Swap set, I die cut it 3 times and layered together, then added to the bottom right of the piano keys piece.

  1. Hi Nicky. I just love your card so much. The layout is perfect. I am excited about your card, because I make about 30 anniversary cards a year for my friends. I am always looking for new designs and ideas and you have definitely hit the mark. I just will change the inside sentiment a little and I am good to go.
