Hot Pink Happy Birthday Explosion Card

My daughter asked me to make a birthday for one of her bestie, she asked for there to be a big 18 and lots of glitter and the rest was up to me and this is what I came up with.

With this card, I knew I was going to do an Explosion card, and I knew I needed a thin patterned paper for the explosion sides so I dug into my crazy stash of Costco paper looking for something fun and bright and I found the Bright Pink polka dot paper and the matching Hot Pink solid paper. Since the polka dot paper had little white dots around the larger dots I decided to use White Cardstock as the card base.

To make the card base and the explosion sides I used Karen Burnistons Explosion Pop up Die set and followed her video directions, I used the exact card dimensions that Karen used in the video https://youtu.be/FX4x_5mrslU

I trimmed the Hot Pink paper to fill in most of the white space, I cut it to be 1/8″ smaller than the card base.

I cut the 2 Polka Dot borders for the inside of the card (top and bottom), they are 1″ deep and the silver glitter border is 1/2″ deep.

I used nesting dies to make the Big tags, I cut White and Pink for the pop-up and a white one for the bottom as a space to sign. The Glitter 18 was cut using my Scan N Cut.

I decorated with balloons and streamers from The same Explosion pop Up die set. One of the larger balloons is from another set.

The front of the card was decorated to match the inside. The Happy Birthday was cut out of White Cardstock.

The last thing I did was add little gemstones to the front and the inside card.
