Black & Bright Accordion Card

Accordion cards are so fun to make and make an impressive card to give. This one was a 16th Birthday card that I made my daughter. That’s her cute little baby photo on the inside.

To make this card I used Karen Burnistons Katie Label Accordion die set, the one that I used is no longer available but here is a link to the closest one she currently has http://karenburniston.com/fancy-label-accordion/ and the video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2T2HY3HbJQ&t=6s

I decided that I really wanted the bright colours to really POP so I chose some nice bright hues and put them against a black card base. I made all the accordion panels in Basic Black. Then I cut the panels again out of the bright colours that I chose. All the cardstock is from Stampin’ UP and the colours are Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Blackberry Bliss. I ran all of the coloured panels through my Big Shot separately with a different embossing folder for each one. I trimmed about 1/4″ off of all 4 sides of the colour panels and trimmed out the centres of all of them as well. I also trimmed off the parts of the panels that connect the inside to the outside, and the tabs off the sides (off the coloured panels only, not the black panels as they hold the card together.)

The first panel facing out- I adhered the Calypso Coral frame for the outside and the Crisp Cantaloupe Katie label in the middle. I cut another Katie label out of Calypso Coral and stamped the birthday greeting with Blackberry Bliss ink and adhered it to the middle, Then I decorated with flowers that I  punched out with the matching colours.

The first-panel facing in- I adhered the BlackBerry Bliss frame around the outside and the first Katie label actually swivels from the front when the card is opened.

Second Panel- I adhered the Bermuda Bay frame around the outside and the Melon Mambo Katie Label in the middle. I used the Katie label die to cut out the baby picture and adhered it to the middle. I decorated with a few of the punched flowers.

Third Panel- I adhered the Crisp Cantaloupe frame around the outside and the Bermuda Bay Katie Label to the middle. I cut out another Katie label out of Calypso Coral and stamped the rest of the Birthday greeting, and decorated with a few more of the punched flowers.

I assembled all the panels as per the video directions in the Karen Burniston video link above.
