Movie Night

I’m literally snacking on popcorn while writing this post lol. I used some of Karen Burnistons new dies on this card, the Whirly Wheel, and Movie Night Charms, along with a few previous released sets.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

So I am trying my best to remember all the details, this is one of the cards that I mailed to Karen and in all the chaos of my messy Craftroom I can’t seem to find my notes.

I’m pretty sure the card is a 5 1/2” square so the dimensions below are what I would have cut, anything close would work.

I decided for this card I would just cut the little semi circle out of the front flap. I followed Karen’s Whirly Wheel video directions. Because I had so many layers I had to tape the front panel on, die cut, remove and then repeat for the inside. Then I added all of the panels to the card.

To make the popcorn look like popcorn, I sponged, yellow, and white craft ink onto a light yellow card stock before die cutting. I used the dies from the Popcorn set to cut the popcorn and the red and white container. The film strip is from the new Movie Night Charms. I added shading with a Versa Mark Marker, and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen. I used the film strip as a border for along the bottom of the card it can be seen in the next slide.

I diecut the pieces to the Whirly Wheel (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ ) I cut multiple arms from acetate. I used the second largest from the Rectangle Crosshatch to die cutting the white, then cut the red and the black 1/8” bigger with each layer. I then added it to the card base making sure to not have any adhesive near the wheel. I used double sided foam strip.

I started adding popcorn to the acetate strip. I added other acetate arms branching off of the first arm, making sure to cover the connection points with popcorn also making sure that it can turn without problem. I found my acetate arm was too floppy so I took a thicker strip of clear plastic and added it to the backside of the long arm.

Since I covered most of the film strip border, I added another one over top of the cover panel. Then I added Happy Birthday in red and I stamped a greeting from the Movie Night Greetings.

Now for the inside. I diecut the pop-up piece from the Little Labels from red and from Black. I cut the centre out of the black one, trimmed it and added it over the centre of the red and layered all three with the white layer. I cut off the third label as shown below. Next I cut 2 of the new Display Helpers (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link at about the 6:40 mark ⬆️ )

I added the piece with the 2 labels (Karen has directions on her website at the Little Labels link that is above.) I added 2 black banners that are included in the set. I also installed the display helper pieces one on the left and one on the right, even though the one on the right can’t really be seen.

I wanted there to be a bit of space between the individual label and the other two so I assembled a Small Scenes Bambox without the elastic. When Karen received the card, she thought that the inside support of the bam box didn’t need to be there and it hindered how wide the card could open so going forward I try something different.

Almost done, I added more pieces from the Movie Nights Charms and a couple other film strip boarders. I added a stamped image from the same Movie Night Greetings stamp set to a white and red layered label. I added a second layered label for a place to sign. And added some itty bitty popcorn pieces.
