Valentine Shutter Card-C4C566

Hello, I am excited to share the first Crazy4Challenges challenge of the year 🤗 Since it is a New Year the challenge is to create something new to me, new tool, new technique, new style……. I decided to try a new technique. It’s a technique that I have been wanting to try for a while but have’t had the time, so last weekend I watched a few videos and gave it a go and I have to say I wish I would have tried it sooner. It’s pretty easy and it doesn’t require any special tools 😃 and it can be used for any occasion, what else can you ask for in a technique. So here is my Valentines Shutter card 💝 (I added a mini card to the back for a special message)

All the fun is in the reveal, it’s hard to tell in the photo but the central shutter opens and closes as you open and close the card. To see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

I actually used very little supplies in making this card. The card stock used is Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso both from Stampin Up and the paper is from stash (sorry not sure where it came from possibly Costco) The card base is in the Cherry Cobbler and the mechanism and panels are made from Early Espresso. Out of the videos I watched I found THIS ONE from Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts to be the most useful.

I had a different idea for the inside but it wasn’t totally visible when the shutters opened. Keep that in mind when choosing what you want to put behind the shutters.

I had decided that the dark colours were not going to be great for writing a message on so I decorated both sides of the panels inside the card.

I made a mini card to write a message on in a lighter colour, it was added to the back of the card.

Thanks for joining me! I am a paper crafting enthusiast who has a special interest in interactive cards. I get a lot of inspiration from the internet so I thought that I  would throw out my own creations with hope that it inspires someone else.
