“Alicorn” Birthday card in a box

Alicorns are a favorite mythical creature (Unicorn meets pegasus) of my niece, so it made sense to make her an Alicorn birthday card. But of course, I couldn’t just slap an Alicorn on a piece of cardstock sooooooo I made a card in a box.

All the cardstock and designer paper is from Stampin’ UP. Colours used are Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, and Crisp Cantaloupe. To create the White swirls I used a retired Stampin’ Up Sizzlet, the Happy Birthday tag is also a Stampin’ Up die. The Hearts and little flowers that are popping out of the box are punches from Stampin’ Up.

The Alicorn was an image I googled and printed, my printer was having an issue so it turned out more blue that it was supposed to 😦  for some reason it didn’t scan right in my Scan n Cut either so I used my Creative Memories circle cutter to cut the circle section and I fussy cut the sections that are outside of the circle. It’s hard to see but I used a Wink of Stella to had some glimmer to the Alicorns mane, tail, and wings.

Some of the smaller balloons are from Karen Burniston, and some are from my stash (sorry they are unlabelled 😦 )

The letters ZOE and the big ovals were cut with my Scan n Cut.

The front panel of the card has a shaker feature,  and I filled it with sequins gems from my stash (probably from Fields or Walmart) and a couple of little balloons. I glued the balloons and a couple of the sequins to the back so when all the goodies shift to the bottom a few pieces would stay up.

Soooo I followed a video on Youtube to create the card but as I made this card a while ago I don’t remember the exact video, there are several if you look up “Card in a box”  Usually when closed all the pieces are supposed to be hidden, but I wanted a big WOW of stuff popping out when the card is opened so there are a few swirls sticking out, I had to send it in a bigger envelope.

I decorated the flaps and the back with some extra gems and sequins that I had left over.
