Time for Tea- Thinking of you card

Are you a coffee or tea person? I’m a tea gal, in real life I would lose my mind if I found out that mice were playing in my tea cups, but I think they are super cute on paper. I used Craft Roulette parameters to make this card.

I have my flaps on the inside, they give a little extra room for writing a message. I’m not sure why but I often choose these colours when making winter scenes, it makes me think of icy cold. Children’s story had me stumped for a bit, for some reason the nursery rhyme “Three Blind Mice” got stuck in my head. Aren’t nursery rhymes short children’s stories? And last but not least “tiles” I have embossed tiles as the background for both the front and the inside. And of course my personal challenge of making it a pop up card.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

1- I decided to start with the tiles, I used the score blade on my Fiskars Cutter and scored them on the diagonal and inch apart. Not shown but I used a sponge dauber and Stampin Up Pool Party ink to add around the score lines.

2- I made the card base using the dimensions below, and adding the tiles to the front.

3- I have wood sticker sheets that I added, and I cut a piece of white card stock to make a trim. I used my scored blade to add lines to make it look like a wood grain as well.

4- I made the inside using the same materials, and dimensions as the front.

So the photos are kind of out of order but I will explain while I go

5- I used the Parcel Pop up dieset to make the popup. I used the largest square from the set to make the front of the mechanism.

A- I used the background to mark where I wanted the tiles to be on the front.

B- I originally made the table part too low (the tea pot is too short”) so I changed it after it was installed. I also trimmed a bit off the top of the square.

6a- I diecut 3 Mice from the Christmas Animals dieset and added details with a Versamarker, a black pen and a White Gel pen

B- I died cut flowers from the Flip Frame pop up in three shades of the pool colours and white. I added details with the same markers as above and Pool Party Marker on the white.

C- the teapot set is retired Stampin up that I diecut from the lighter shade. I sponged the edges with the Pool party ink and highlighted with the white pen. I added some of the flowers

7- I diecut the mechanism pieces from Parcel Pop up and assembled (video at link) added to the card and added the decorated square.

8a- I added all the pieces to the card, one of the mice I added to the pop up mechanism

B- I thought it would be cute to have one of the mouse buts sticking out of the top of the cup. I also die cut Thinking of You twice, from a lighter and darker shade, highlighted with a white pen and added to the card.

9- I cut the pieces below and combined to make the flaps, decorated with flowers and added to the card. I also added a spoon that came with the teapot set.

If I was making this card again, on the inside I would have had the wood paper come up higher, so I could do the same on the square. That would have made it so I could put the tea pot higher and not have to trim the top of the square off. I would have also made the mechanism in white so it is not as visible when the card is open.
