Hello crafty crew, today I am sharing the card I made for the November Karen Burniston design team challenge. This months challenge was to make an Auntimn or Christmas Cheer card. And since I am always in need of a Christmas card I decided on Christmas cheer. I really love the new Poinsettia dieset and wanted to use it again.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.
I was planning on using the Twist Flower Pop-up so I needed to make a slimline card. Dimensions are below. I cut the centers of all the green layers, and 3 out of 4 of the red layers. The patterned pieces are all the same size and I have 2 of the red pattern, and 1 of the poinsettia. I cut the centres out of the pieces that will be covered anyway, it reduces the bulk and conserves cardstock.οΏΌ

Layer all the panels as shown, and add to the card base.οΏΌ

I cut the Twist Flower Pop Up mechanisms for the inside three times. Because it was textured card stock and I wanted the texture to be the same on all three, so for the middle one that I plan to reverse I cut it with the die under the card stock facing up so the diecut piece will be the opposite direction. The pieces with the βοΈ in the photos are the pieces that are reversed. Hope this makes sense. (Karen has a video tutorial to install this mechanism on the product page at the link β¬οΈ )
I marked the center to install the reversed piece in the middle, and then I measured 2β from both ends to install the other 2 pieces.

I die cut Poinsettias from the 2 shades of red, and 1 pink. I pressed the dies into matching ink before diecutting to make the lines in the poinsettias more prominent. I then sponge the edges and used a gold marker along the edges as well. The centres are gold mirror card stock.οΏΌ I wanted different sizes of leaves so along with the leaf die I die cut the large poinsettia and cut the petals off for leaves. I inked and edged the leaves the same as the flowers.οΏΌ

When attaching the flowers to the mechanisms, I found that if I perfectly centred the flowers they did not turn theyβre too large and they were bending. So each flower is offset slightly. The top and bottom to the right the middle to the left.οΏΌ I only had one that slightly went outside the edge of the card. So I just trimmed it.οΏΌ

I found the green mechanisms too distracting so I used the mechanism die and cut out the pieces to cover some sections of the mechanism as shown. They blend in a little better and are not so noticeable.οΏΌ

I cut some other pieces from the Poinsettia die set to add as a little more filler.οΏΌ I inked them up as well and added some gold highlights.οΏΌ

I wanted a little more gold, but wasnβt feeling a border. So I took some pieces of gold cord and dunked them in some glue and added them as shown. I used clamps to hold them in place until the glue dried. I added some little gemstones for accents. The glue I use is LINECO Neutral Ph Adhesive and it dries clear.

I cut a red rectangle from the Rectangles Crosshatch, I wanted a little bit of green. So I cut two pieces with the same die as shown and added them to the top and bottom of the red. I cut out the βMerry Christmasβ from the Merry Christmas Lorna Add on I added shading with a Versa Mark Marker, and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen
I added these pieces to the front of the card along with some leftover pieces from the inside.οΏΌ

I cut a small rectangle from the rectangles cross hatch, and added it to the inside. οΏΌI added a few gemstones to it and to the front of the card.οΏΌ

Stunning Poinsettia card! Definitely shows that the extra time and effort spent to edge the petals and leaves with gold, adding ink to the vein lines on the die and covering up the mechanism makes for an even more beautiful card.
