1st Day Of School

I am so smitten with how this card turned out, and it just happens to be a Craft Roulette Card, this card is so stinkin cute in person. Besides the Craft Roulette parameters I gave myself another couple of challenges, 1- to use a dieset I haven’t used before, and 2 to use a dieset that I haven’t used in a while, these are the Craft Roulette parameters ⬇️

So the set I have never used before is the Charm Accordion, and the set I haven’t used in a while is the Book Worm dieset. The Craft Roulette parameters were met as follows, the book worms glasses are see-through, so are the blue charm frames, and really you can see through the card around the twisting panels. I think these colours could be found in the birds and flowers in the Jungle. Teachers will be found in a school, I have the white baker’s twine and green ribbon in a tangled twist on the front of the card.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

I found this vibrant flower paper in my stash and matched it up with this pink cardstock. The darker pink around the flowers actually looks much closer to the card stock in person. I diecut 2 panels in the pink and 2 in the flower using the Charm Accordion dieset (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ this version is an altered method and it is her second video in this page)

Cut apart the panels and reverse every second panel. I trimmed about 1/8” around the flower panels. The hinge pieces are 4 1/4” x 3/4” X 3 folded in the middle. I only cut 2 sets of the flower paper, Karen cuts three but I alter it again so I only needed what is shown.

Add the flower paper to the front as shown. I decided to cut out 2 extra panels as shown and added them to the front and the end of the accordion card.

I really like adding dimension to my word dies and I only use 2 pens when doing this. I cut out and layered Good Luck, then I use a Versa Mark marker to add shadows to the bottom right of each letter, and a white highlight to the upper left of each letter using a White Gelly Roll pen. Can you see the difference?

Diecut and assemble the Bookworm, using the stitched rectangle from the Short Rectangle Crosshatch cut from white then trimmed like a banner. I die cut “on your” using Word Set 18- Connectors and added it to the banner.

I used white bakers twine and green ribbon to create a border, and knotted few extra strips within the knot to make it look more tangled. Add all the pieces to the first panel.

I cut the charm connectors from blue, and assembled the layers and charms using the following sets. Charm accordion, Bookworm, Office Charms, Numbers, Mini Alphabet and Numbers, Church and School Tiny House add on (the word school), and the word “Day” from Happy Valentines Day. Add all the pieces to the card.

Cut a panel using the Rectangles Crosshatch, and add the “love you” from the Pop n Swap dieset. I made a few coloured pencils from the Office Charms set, I thought it would be cute if they looked like they were writing the words, so the pink one is added to the end of the “love you” and the light blue one with the xoxo
