“Life’s a Beach” Fancy Accordion-Designer Challenge

Hello crafty friends, it’s that time again, time for the Karen Burniston Designers challenge and this months challenge is to make an Accordion card. I decided to make a Fancy Label Accordion , this is the first time I got to play with this and I really enjoyed, it makes a really fun card.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

1- I knew that I wanted to make a 4 panel card. So I die cut 4 Fancy Label Accordion Panels. On 2 of them I added a smaller label die in the middle of the panel die to cut out a window.

Oooos on one of them the die shifted and the window is crooked. That’s ok, I will fix it. So at the moment I have one panel without a window, 2 with centered windows and one with a crooked window.

2A- I diecut multiple frames from the Fancy Winter Frames, in a darker teal and a light brown.

B- I added the frames to both sides of the panels, alternating colours. I randomly added some of the dots from what ever the opposite colour was. Blue dots on the brown frame, and brown dots on the blue frames.

3- I diecut 2 brown labels to cover the crooked window on both side.

4- I die cut and assembled these die cuts through out making the card. I just thought it would be easier to list them all now

A-Word set 16 Beach Happy Hour from pink and teal

B- Tropical Scene, I cut the island and trees from 3 different colours (beach sand, tree trunk and leaves) twice, the waves from blue and white twice, and then I cut the bottoms with a Fancy Label frame so they fit nice on the panels.

C- Palm Tree Pop up, I cut the small tree 4 times and a hammock.

D- Outdoor Scenes I coloured the birds with a grey alcohol marker to make them look like seagulls.

E- Beach Charms, I actually cut the set shown and with blue accents

F- Sea Charms

G- Book Worm charms I used the tassel and the glasses to make sunglasses. I made blue pair and a pink pair.

H- Landscape Scene sun

5- I cut the island pieces and the wave pieces with a label die to fit in the panels.

6- I added shadows with a Versa Mark marker, and highlights with a white gel pen. I also added some Wink of Stella to the sand and the water.

I added the pieces to the panels. I decorated the fronts and the backs of the panels.

7- I decided that I wanted a bit of pink on the borders so I cut some Fancy Winter Frames from 2 shades of pink and used the dots to add randomly around. I also used some Wink of Stella randomly on some of the dots and some of the empty dot spaces.

Each set below shows the front and back of each panel, if there was a window than it is the same on front and back just refersed.

8- I started adding the panels together to make the accordion and realized my mistake. Everything looked good from the front but I had covered up part of the frames and some of the elements. It was easier to just cut a few more of the frames and added over the flaps and I peeled up some of the die cuts and glued them over where the tabs attached. I added some of the little sea shells to cover where there was glue showing.

I also added a few small gems around the card.

9- from some other angles.

Other Tools used

  2. Thank you very much for the fun card idea Ms. Nicky and all the great instructions so I can recreate it myself. It really makes me want to head to the beach, especially with the weather we are having here.
My favorite ice cream is Vanilla, because you can add anything you want to it or eat it as is, depending on your mood at the time. lol!
