You are My Sunshine – July Design Challenge

It’s time for the Karen Burniston design team challenge. This months challenge was to use one of the new diesets with a paper pack that was sent to each of the design team, I was happy to receive this beautiful Echo Park Best Summer Ever paper pack with stickers, and this is what I came up with.

All the fun is in the reveal, to see this card in action please check out my FACEBOOK page, feel free to join if you would like to share your own crafty creations. You can also see a video of this card on my INSTAGRAM page.

1- I wanted to make a double fold card. So I cut out the pieces as shown below. The 2 smaller dark pink cardstock I adhered to the sides of the main card base.

2- Then I added all the lighter pink pieces as shown. Not shown is I cut a 4th piece of light pink for the back of the card.

3- I picked out the pieces I wanted for the card, the message blocks came with the paper pack. I cut and matted the pieces as shown.

4- I thought it would be fun to have the inside message span a cross the fold line, but I didn’t want it to bunch up in the fold so I trimmed it as shown.

5a – die cut 2 Twist Flower mechanisms.

B- flip in over so one will be reverse of the other

C- fold on all the score lines.

D- add to the card base (Karen has a video tutorial on the product page at the link ⬆️ )

6- I die cut 4 each of white and 2 of 2 different patterned paper (pink stripes, and multi coloured stripes) large flowers from this Twist Flower set and adhered them white on top off patterned, offset, then started adding stickers. I cut out the fruit panels from the paper pack and offset them with a multi coloured stripe paper.

7- I decided to offset the message block as well and added all the pieces to the card base as shown

Across the top I used thick yellow bakers twine (Walmart) to make 2 swags. The banner stickers are part of the Echo Park paper pack

8- I used the same yellow bakers twine on the front. I tied 2 other pieces of twine around the knot then untwisted the twine to give it a frayed look.

9- add it to the front of the card.

10- I decided it needed some sparkle so I dug out some rhinestones and added them randomly around. I’m cheap my rhinestones are from the dollar store.

Other Tools used

Fine Tip bottle

Lineco Neutral PH Adhesive
