Happy Birthday Butterfly Window card

This card was part of a card swap that I was a part of, I had created 10 of these if I remember correctly. I thought the window feature gave a fun element to this card especially since the cardstock in the inside is a different colour it adds colour to the butterfly when the card is closed.

This card was made using all Stampin’ Up Supplies. Colours used are Island Indigo, Soft Sky and Basic Black.

The black cardstock for the back panel was cut at 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Soft Sky cardstock is 5 1/4″  x 8″ scored at 4″ and the Island Indio panel is 5″ x 3 /4″. Put the panels aside for now.

I used a large butterfly die to cut out the window on the front of the card, I used the same butterfly die to cut out a matching butterfly out of black cardstock, I recommend adding double-sided adhesive to one side of the black cardstock so the adhesive doesn’t show as much when the card is completed.

I stamped random stamps in shades of Soft Sky and Island Indigo to create a  collage look to the bottom of the card front. I also sponged Island Indigo ink around the outside of the card front. I used a die to cut out a long tag, I sponged the edges to make it darker, Stamped the word Birthday and tied a matching ribbon around one side. I adhered the tag with Stampin’ dimensionals to add a little depth.

Next, I die cut the word Happy, and I stamped a little Butterfly with black ink and used the matching punch to punch it out, I added both to the card front.

To make the window feature I cut out a small square of window sheet and used a clear adhesive and glued it to the inside of the card, directly behind the butterfly cut out. Once the glue was dry I adhered the black die cut Butterly that I had cut out previously and fit it into the cutout in the card front and glued it to the clear window. (see the photo above)

Last I added the Island Indigo panel to the inside of the card, and the Basic Black  Panel to the back of the card.
